Quick update of the Broom on the Warpath Rookie Rankings. Detroit center Andre Drummond maintains his hold on the top spot despite a significant move up the charts by Antonio Davis. Wizards rookie Bradley Beal moves up 5 spots and could move into the top 10 for the season if he continues his improved play.
The chart below is ordered by PPA, which stands for Player Production Average. PPA is an overall measure I developed that credits players for things they do that help a team win, and debits them for things that don't. PPA accounts for defense, is adjusted for pace, and includes a "degree of difficulty" adjustment based on an estimate of how many starters a player faces during his minutes on the floor (that's the Sta% column).
In PPA, 100 = average, higher is better, and replacement level is 45.
I've included the 32 rookies with at least 250 total minutes so far this season. That cutoff will gradually rise during the season to 500 by season-end. The average rookie PPA this season is 70, which is about typical.
