This is a big blow to a team that had sold its long-term prospects in the hopes of making the playoffs the next couple seasons. While Wall has been average to below-average his first couple seasons, his replacements are well-below average players.
The team says Wall doesn't need surgery. If you're an optimist, that's good news. If you've paid attention to the Wizards through the years, you know there's an even-money chance that Wall actually does need surgery and that he'll end up missing most of the season.
This news comes on the heels of the announcement that Nene will miss training camp with plantar fasciitis. This is the same injury that caused the big man to miss games last season, and during the Olympics.
As nate33 at RealGM.com pointed out, there are two key players on the Wizards: Wall and Nene. There are now significant health concerns with each.
