A quick summary of Washington Redskins news that caught my attention:

  • Brandon Banks thinks the Skins should keep running the option.  No shock there -- the triple option is what got Banks on the field for offensive plays. To be fair, Banks' comments reflected some realism. He thinks they could be successful running the play 6-7 times per game. I still think we're going to see Banks throw from the triple option. What would that play be called? Quadruple option? Biquadratic option?
  • Kyle Shanahan apologized for blasting refs at the end of the Bengals game. I liked his real world comments Thursday. He said the fine hurt: "It's a lot of money."
  • The Skins are dealing with some injuries. Trent Williams (knee) and CB Cedric Griffin (hamstring) missed practice Thursday. WR Pierre Garcon (foot), safety Brandon Meriweather (knee), RB Evan Royster (knee), and WR/KR Brandon Banks (hip) were limited.
  • Redskins defenders want to remain "stout" against the run. While that's nice, it's kind of an illusion. I think running yards may be on the low side because passing is so easy against Washington.
  • The game is almost certain to be blacked out in Tampa Bay. This is a subject for another day, but I think the massive stadium model is going to start dying out over the next few years. Blackouts may be an early sign of what's to come for the NFL, and pro sports in general. Especially as ticket prices keep rising.
  • Former Baylor basketball player Richard Hurd plead guilty to attempting to extort money from Robert Griffin III. I like the response of Griffin and his agent when Hurd approached demanding money -- they called police and helped get the evidence necessary to convict him.
